Introducing the Uncovered Collective Contemporary Art Blog

Updated: Jul 25, 2022

Welcome to our very own contemporary art blog

G'day to yous pals! We are proud to be launching our dedicated contemporary art blog. This has been something that we have wanted to launch for a long while, but it's one of those things that needs to be done the right way - so naturally, it has taken us a little minute to get things in motion.

Who are Uncovered Collective? 🧑‍🤝‍🧑

Birthed from the artists studios in Wimbledon College of Arts (UAL), Uncovered Collective started in 2017 when a group of fine artists decided to join forces. The aim was simple - to make the art world smaller, less expensive and less intimidating. Through sharing our individual knowledge and resources without limitation. Since then we have been frequently hosting contemporary art exhibitions of all shapes and sizes. The collective has steadily grown into an amazing community of supportive artists and all types of creatives, including: Sculptures, Painters, Performance Artists, Photographers, Writers, Digital Artists... you get the point. Everyone is welcome!

Get involved ✍️

Before we get stuck in to our plan, we really want to drive this point home: If you are a creative and have something that you'd like to get off of your chest, this is the place to do it. Don't hesitate to send in your ideas, thoughts and musings - we are here to give you a platform. Check out our contributions page for more details. (please note: we do not accept ideas sent in via fax).

What to expect from our art blog 👇

Well anyway, thanks for being here. We wanted to provide a bit of a roadmap so that you know exactly what to expect from our blog (so that you'll be overwhelmed, totally thrilled and have no choice but to scream from the rooftops about underground, niche contemporary art in absolute ecstasy).

We spent some time thinking to ourselves, what actually makes a good artist blog? Here's what we came up with:

  • Artist interviews

  • Studio visits

  • Exhibition reviews

  • Gallery visits

  • Artwork critiques

  • Online workshops & How to's

  • Art "world" news

  • Art material reviews

  • Music reviews

  • Book reviews

  • Offering the platform for guest contributions & More

& that's not all 🔥

We are chuffed to announce that we will be offering free artist resources to support budding creatives. Such as Artist CV guides, artist statements tips and how to market your artwork to gain exposure.

All of which will be fuelled by our combined perspectives and experiences of the art world, from working in galleries and being a part of exhibitions. We plan to only ever give out honest and realistic advice that's actually useful to apply to an art practice. So there you have it, we're a painting blog, an art critic blog, a whatever you want really kind of blog!

Be in the loop 📲

We've only gone and put together an email newsletter to make your life a little bit easier... "But is it annoying?"- No way. "Is it splendid?" Yes it is, thanks for asking! Sign up at the bottom of this page.

OK, now that you're on the literal edge of your seat and it's fully saturated with sweet gluteus maximus sweat - we are going to end it there. 👋

Pssst! If you really can't wait, check out these bits & bobs we love:
